Occupational Therapy

Our occupational therapists serve children who have physical and /or developmental delays as a result of neurological, musculo-skeletal, and genetic disorders.

The therapists’ main concern is a child's success in the areas of productivity, self-care, and leisure. They work to enhance a child’s independence with everyday skills such as feeding, dressing, seating, toileting, age appropriate play skills, hand function, and sensory processing.

Therapists also assist parents in choosing equipment as well as seating and positioning (having the child in the optimum position to promote function and learning) the child at home or in community settings.

Therapist Services

These include:

  • Assessments to ascertain the level of functional self help skills, the child’s developmental level, sensory processing issues, and fine motor ability.
  • Consultations to and with parents, caregivers, Infant Development Consultants and Supported Child Development Consultants
  • Clinics dealing with fine motor groups, sensory processing groups, and seating and positioning.

Therapists serve children in their homes, at the FVCDC offices, in the community, or at their preschools and schools.

Referrals

You may refer your child to us, known as a self-referral. Caregivers, family doctors, preschool teachers, or anyone else involved in your child's life may also make referrals.
